Well hey there! Welcome to my first blog post!
I’m Hanna, owner of Hanna Marie Events. I celebrated my one year biz anniversary this year and WOW let me tell you what a year it has been! But first, I’m going to be a little vulnerable and share how I decided to even start this business…..
In August of 2021 I was visiting my brother, sister in law & new niece in Portland with my husband. We were at a local brewery playing Catan (bonus points if you play Catan!!) and my sister in law asked me if I could do anything for a job, what would I do? And without hesitation, I said I would do some sort of event planning, but not weddings as I didn’t want to work weekends.
I pondered this conversation for a few weeks, and then on September 10th I woke up and had this crazy (but so exciting) idea to start a wedding planning/coordinating business. Sure, I have to work weekends, but to spend one of the happiest days with couples? Absolutely worth it.
I texted my husband instantly and asked him if I was crazy. He 100% supported me (and still does!) I started the process that day, researching anything and everything I needed to know about running a business. It took me just a few minutes to decide on a business name and I bought my logo on Etsy that night. It only took 18 days for me to contact a lawyer and have my LLC formed. I announced my business to the world on October 10th and I could not have imagined all the love & support that would follow me that day and the upcoming months.
I have to give a huge shoutout to Deanna at Olive Branch Events Co for being not only a great mentor & help with all business things – but for being a great friend! Having those within industry you can lean on when needed & not compete with makes it so much easier, especially in the thick of wedding season!
This photo of me with one of my bride’s was taken during the busiest part of my 2022 wedding season. A little bit exhausted but beyond grateful to be enjoying one of the happiest days with this couple. I actually knew this bride (Krista) from our time in the military too! When she contacted me in January 2022 I was so excited to connect with her again!
It wouldn’t be an about me blog post without sharing a few facts about myself!
– I despise driving in snow. It’s pretty and all, but I would be lying if I said it didn’t give me a little bit of anxiety..
– My husband & I LOVE attending concerts & travelling together. We will be travelling to Clearwater Beach in April 2023 for our 5 year wedding anniversary, AND we will be attending the Taylor Swift concert 🙂
– I have two dogs – Gordy & Maddy. They are the best thing to ever happen to my husband & I!
– My favorite food is tied between Italian & Mexican. Alfredo & Queso are two of my favorites (but not together…..lol)
